Established in 1965, HAWS assists over 6,000 animals and welcomes more than 31,000 human visitors annually. As an "open admissions" shelter we lead the community in animal welfare and assure sanctuary for all animals in need, regardless of age, health or temperament. HAWS is a non-profit, entirely donor-fund organization with an active humane education program, and both wildlife and companion animal rescue services for Waukesha County.

HAWS is “expecting” – and everyone is invited to celebrate!
Hundreds of cute kittens will “rain” on HAWS this year...so it is a great time for a Kitten Shower! Join the fun THIS Saturday, June 9th from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at our shelter at 701 Northview Road, Waukesha. Enjoy cake, prizes, kid’s activities and more while helping HAWS raise the much-needed funds and supplies to care for these feline bundles of joy.
Is it the right time to add a new little member to the family? (Check out Reny the mom cat and her baby girl, Romy in the picture at right - too cute!) Specials include 2-for-1 kitten adoptions and a unique adoption rate for mom cats! Fees for moms are based on the number of kittens in her litter; if she had 2 babies, her adoption is only $2…and she goes home with a special gift! Every kitten or cat adopted will also receive a gift basket valued at almost $60. Pre-approval for adoptions is available for this event; contact the HAWS Adoptions staff at 262-542-8851 to learn more.
