Sean and Julie Pollak of Muskego are the parents of Owen Christopher Pollak, born May 2 at Froedtert Hospital. He was 7 pounds, 11 ounces, and 20 inches long. He joins sister Emma Lynn, 4. Grandparents are Robert and Kathy Chapman of Richfield, Barbara Pollak of West Allis, and Harry Pollak and Judy Pringle of Henderson, Nev. Great-grandmother is Mary Chapman of Milwaukee.

Jeffrey Eversman of New Berlin recently won the $1,000 University of Wisconsin-Madison Bookstore Academic Excellence Award for an outstanding independent project.

CAMPUSNEWS

Vincent Rocco of New Berlin, a senior business management and economics major at Ripon College, was honored with the Alliant Energy/Erroll B. Davis Jr. Minority Achievement Award. Recipients are chosen by their peers and professors based on their scholarship, leadership and future career potential.

Alex York, son of Matthew and Kimberlee York of Muskego, appeared in four recent Lawrence University performances of William Shakespeare's play "The Tempest," portraying Francisco, a young sailor shipwrecked on a mysterious island, in Appleton.

Amanda Hill, daughter of Gloria Bach of New Berlin, earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from Alverno College in Milwaukee in May.

Sarah Federle of New Berlin earned her bachelor's degree in human nature from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Penn.

Katlin Ellerson of Muskego made the spring semester dean's list at the University of Evansville in Indiana.

SERVICENEWS

Stewart Jay Slipher, son of Clark and Diane Slipher of New Berlin, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y., in May. While at West Point, he studied foreign language (German) and international relations. A 2007 graduate of New Berlin Eisenhower High School, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the field artillery branch and will be stationed in Bamberg, Germany.

Joshua R. Cierniak has joined the U.S. Army under the delayed entry program. Cierniak will report to Fort Leonard Wood in Waynesville, Mo., for basic training in July 2011. He is the son of Ryan Blankenhiem of Green Bay and Nicholle and Paul Hrdlicka of New Berlin.
