Cheer squads plans pasta dinner, raffle

New Berlin - The New Berlin Eisenhower cheer squads will host a pasta dinner, catered by That's Amore, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 7 in the Eisenhower cafeteria, 4333 S. Sunny Slope Road.

The dinner will include pasta with sauce, garlic bread, tossed salad, dessert and a drink. Tickets are $9 for adults, $6 for ages 3-7, and free for children younger than 3.

There will also be a raffle drawing at 6:45 p.m. Winners need not be present.

'Foundation of Nation' drama to be presented

New Berlin - "Foundation of a Nation," a drama with music, will be presented at Poplar Creek Church, 17770 W. Cleveland Ave., at 3 p.m. Sept. 8 and at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 9.

New Berlin Historical Park hosts seasonal events

New Berlin - The New Berlin Historical Society will hold two more events at the Historical Park, at 19765 National Ave., this year.

Historic Day will be held noon Sept. 9 and Applefest at 1 p.m. Oct. 7.

Golfers wanted for police benefit

New Berlin - The New Berlin Police Citizens Academy Alumni Association will hold a golf outing Sept. 13 at the New Berlin Hills Golf Course to benefit the New Berlin Police Department.

The outing will include 18 holes, a cart, lunch, three hole-in-one contests, a prize on every hole, a silent auction and a raffle. It is a scramble format, so golfers of all skill levels can take part.

The cost is $100 per golfer. A lunch-only option is $30 per person.

The outing is limited to the first 144 golfers. Singles and two somes can sign up. Check in will be at 7 a.m., a shotgun start at 8 a.m. and lunch at 2 p.m.

Expert presents info on law and garden recovery

Big Bend - Gardening expert, TV/radio host, author and columnist Melinda Myers will present a free session on "Lawn & Garden Renewal," focusing on helping gardens and lawns recover from the recent heat and drought, at the Steins Garden Center in Big Bend, W23445 National Ave., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 23.

Myers has more than 30 years of horticultural experience and has written more than 20 gardening books, including "Can't Miss Small Space Gardening" and "The Garden Book for Wisconsin."

She hosts the nationally syndicated Melinda's Garden Moment segments, which air on more than 115 television and radio stations throughout the U.S.

New Berlin - The New Berlin Farmers Market will continue every Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., through the end of October at 16300 W. National Ave., in the police station parking lot.

Story time, youth group sign-ups at library

Muskego - Story time sign-ups have begun at the Muskego Public Library, W16663 Janesville Road.

Lap-sitters Story Time, for children ages 2 and 3 with an adult, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesdays. Preschool Pals for children ages 4 to 6 will be at 1 p.m. Wednesdays.

Dementia caregivers support group offered

New Berlin - A new caregiver support group sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month at the New Berlin Public Library, 15105 Library Lane.

A group will provide an open forum for caregivers or family members to voice concerns and ask questions about Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.

In addition to the emotional, educational and social support provided, the meetings also will allow participants to develop problem-solving skills.

The support group also is open to all family members and there is no cost to attend.
