VanDam-Kantola

Sarah VanDam and Scott Kantola were married Oct. 17, 2009, at Westbrook Wesleyan Church in New Berlin.

Parents of the bride are Richard and Lynn VanDam of New Berlin. Parents of the groom are Robert and Theresa Kantola of New Berlin.

The Rev. Scott Smith officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at Brookfield Suites Hotel in Brookfield.

The bride wore a strapless, white fitted gown with sequins and a chapel train with elbow length gloves. She carried a bouquet of burgundy, yellow and burnt orange roses and calla lilies.

Matron of honor was Sara Jane VanDam of New Berlin, sister-in-law of the bride. Bridesmaid was Liza Hartman of California.

Best man was David Kantola of Virginia, brother of the groom. Groomsman was Steven VanDam of New Berlin.

The bride, who is a 1997 graduate of New Berlin West High School, earned her degree in biological science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2004. She is a substitute teacher in Nashville, Tenn.

The groom, who is also a 1997 graduate of New Berlin West High School, earned his bachelor's degree from UW-Milwaukee in 2002 and graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2008. He is a pathology resident physician at Vanderbilt in Nashville.

The couple, who are high school sweethearts, honeymooned in the Smokey Mountains for five days.

They reside in Nashville.
