St. Joseph's School

to host golf outing

Big Bend — St. Joseph's School of Big Bend will hold a golf outing July 26 at the Edgewood Golf Course to help raise money for the school.

It will be a typical scramble format, with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Dinner is included and will be accompanied by a raffle.

Registration is $85 per person, or $340 per foursome, and includes greens fee, cart, golfer gift bag (including two drink tickets), a post-play reception and dinner.

Theology on Tap

to help 20s, 30s

New Berlin — Theology on Tap, a summer speaker series for young adults, married and single, in their 20s and designed to address their needs, questions and interests will be held throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, including Matty's Bar & Grill, 14460 W. College Ave.

Presented by the Rev. Dan Janasik, the sessions will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at Matty's, New Berlin.

The July 29 session will be on on "How Do Catholics Read the Bible?"

The sessions are sponsored by seven area parishes.

Outdoor concerts

at New Berlin Library

New Berlin — The remaining concerts of the New Berlin Library's free outdoor concerts on the green at the library in the City Center will be July 31 and Aug. 14.

Both will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The July 31 concert will feature smooth Latin jazz by Vivo. The Aug. 14 concert will feature The Concord Chamber Orchestra.

Food and beverages will be available in the library parking lot.

ProHealth Care/Regency Senior Communities is sponsoring the three-concert series.

Last Jam for season

rollin' around corner

Muskego — The last Jammin' on Janesville of 2013 will be Aug. 2 with activities, bands, $1 menu items and more.

Admission and parking is free, as are the shuttles that will take visitors to the all the fun and food Janesville Road from the Kohl's parking lot on Moorland Road.

Charity golf outing

planned for local course

New Berlin — The second New Berlin and town of Brookfield firefighters Charity Golf Outing/4 Man Scramble will be held Aug. 2 at the New Berlin Hills golf course, 13175 W. Graham Street.

The signup deadline is July 24 by emailing 4724charities@gmail.com or calling (262) 780-5200.

Registration will start at 11 a.m. and golfing at noon.

All proceeds will go to local charities. The cost of $75 per player includes a program of special events, 18 holes of golf (including cart), dinner, prizes and awards banquet.

Prizes will be given for being closest to the pin and closest in two shots; longest drive; and longest putt.

There also will be raffle prizes and hole-in-one contest to win a Chevrolet.

at event for paralyzed vets

New Berlin — A weekend of fundraisers for the Wisconsin Paralyzed Veterans of America will be held at the Milwaukee Casting Club, 18200 W. Cleveland Ave.

Shoots for prizes will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 3 and 4. The cost will be $20 for 50 birds at 16 or 25 yards with re-entry for $15 for 50 birds.

On Aug. 3 a pig roast will be held at 4 p.m. The cost will be $10.

Family Fun Fest

could save lives

New Berlin — The Rotary Club of New Berlin will present Family Fun Fest, to support the YMCA's splash program, on Aug. 11 at StoneFire Pizza Company, 5320 S. Moorland Road.

Tickets are $15.85 for guests 13 and older and $12.85 for ages 3 to 12. The cost includes an all-you-can-eat buffet and unlimited bumper cars, frog hopper, ball-o-city and outdoor jump yard and unlimited play on 15 games.

For other games involving prizes, game cards that usually cost $20 will be available for $15.

All proceeds will go toward the splash program, which is designed to teach basic water safety around pools, waterfronts and waterways to young children.

Water Bugs ski

into 2013 season

Muskego — The Muskego Water Bugs 2013 season is under way with free water ski shows at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Labor Day at Idle Isle Park on Little Muskego Lake.

The Water Bugs will tell a story of Yogi Bear and Jellystone Park.

When Mayor Mooch is considering closing the park for back taxes, Yogi, Boo Boo and Cindy Bear have some ideas to raise money to save the park.

The Water Bugs will showcase their world famous five-high pyramid and the nation's top scoring jump act.

They also feature national doubles champions Meghan Stone and Marty Campbell.

Come join the fun before summer's over.

Soap Box Derby

to be held Sept. 8

New Berlin — The 49th Annual New Berlin Soap Box Derby will be held on Sept. 8.

Local remodeler

hosts 'refashion show'

Muskego — The sixth annual "Refashion for Life" will be held from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at Callen Construction's Muskego Showroom and company grounds, W13131 Janesville Road.

The charity event will benefit CommonGround Ministry/Elena's House, Wauwatosa, which provides physical, spiritual, and emotional support to people infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

"Refashion for Life" will feature a fashion show combining the newest looks in clothing with fashionable products for the home, including countertops, cabinetry, windows, plumbing and light fixtures, flooring, and hardware. Kohler Co. and StarMark Cabinetry will provide many of the featured home improvement and remodeling products.

In addition to the runway show, there will be a silent and voice auction featuring entertainment and sporting tickets, boutique certificates and more. Saz's Catering will provide hors d'oeuvres and desserts, with music by Mr. Lucky Light.

Fall Harvest Art,

Craft Fair slated

New Berlin — The Fall Harvest Art and Craft Fair, sponsored by the New Berlin Junior Woman's Club, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 19 at Ronald Reagan Elementary School, 4225 S. Calhoun Road.

More than 120 crafters will sell their creations and a bake sale and refreshments will be offered.

Admission is $2. Proceeds will be donated back to the community.

Story time, youth group

Muskego — Story time sign-ups have begun at the Muskego Public Library, W16663 Janesville Road.

Lap-sitters Story Time, for children ages 2 and 3 with an adult, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesdays. Preschool Pals for children ages 4 to 6 will be at 1 p.m. Wednesdays.

Dementia caregivers

support group offered

New Berlin — A new caregiver support group sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month at the New Berlin Public Library, 15105 Library Lane.

A group will provide an open forum for caregivers or family members to voice concerns and ask questions about Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.

In addition to the emotional, educational and social support provided, the meetings also will allow participants to develop problem-solving skills.

The support group also is open to all family members and there is no cost to attend.
