Water Bugs headline Fourth of July activities

A whole new show based around extreme skiing will be presented by the Water Bugs at Idle Isle Park W182 S6666 Hardtke Drive, at 6:30 p.m. Friday as part of the Fourth of July celebration in Muskego.

The pyramids will be bigger, there will be a lot of barefoot skiing and spectacular wake boarding and skiers jumping off ramps doing flips and spins, said Terry Roslawski, a member of the Water Bugs executive committee and a lead skier.

And the entire show will be free. Before the show, wake board professionals will do a demonstration with leaps, flips, and spins. That will be new to the celebration.

The Water Bugs also sponsor the fireworks display at dusk and the crowd can look forward to an even better show this year. The Water Bugs increased the number of fireworks by 25 percent, he said. About 3,000 people watch the show from land and water, he estimated.

But the fun starts in the afternoon with families coming to Idle Isle with their coolers and lawn chairs to picnic and swim. The Water Bugs will have a corn roast and sell hot dogs and brats, candy and soda starting about mid-afternoon. Later on, they will sell glow necklaces and wristbands.

An inflatable slide and bouncing room for kids will be part of the celebration, also.
