Officer honored for 25 years of service
The Muskego Common Council on Tuesday night honored Police Officer Gary Mrotek for 25 years of service that included very likely saving the life of a fellow officer and serving in just about every capacity the department has.
In his first year on the job, Mrotek came to the aid of an Escanaba, Mich., police officer who was being attacked by an animal. In doing so, Mrotek risked his own life and very likely saved the life of his fellow officer, the Common Council resolution honoring him states.
In 1992, Mrotek became the city's first school liaison officer, serving at both Bay Lane Middle School and Muskego High School.
Ten years later, Mrotek became the first community resource officer, serving from 2002 to 2004. His career also has included being a field training officer, court officer, officer-in-charge, a member of the SWAT team and an evidence technician.
