Get back to nature as library hosts Aldo Leopold celebration
Muskego — Famed naturalist Aldo Leopold will "come" to the Muskego Public Library, W16663 Janesville Road, for its annual Aldo Leopold Celebration to be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. March 13.
In this first-person, interpretive program, Retzer Nature Center naturalist Larry Kascht utilizes the persona of Aldo Leopold as a vehicle to discuss Leopold's ideas - his land ethic and the joys and challenges of land education during his lifetime and ours. Leopold's life provides the interpretive context through which to discuss the delights and dilemmas of those who cannot live without wild things.
Kascht is the naturalist supervisor at the nature center, where he has worked and taught for more than 20 years. He is a certified facilitator with the Leopold Education Project and participates yearly in Wisconsin's Aldo Leopold Weekend.
The informal discussion will include sharing favorite Sand County Almanac readings. Pizza and soda will be free. The program will be free to adults and children at least 12 years old. A donation of a nonperishable food item for the Muskego food pantry would be welcomed.
The event is made possible by the Friends of Muskego Public Library, Leopold Education Project and Pheasants Forever.
