Police chief names new information officer
Muskego - Muskego Police Chief Craig Moser has appointed Lt. David Constantineau as the department's new public information officer.
Constantineau, a 26-year department veteran, currently supervises the detective bureau and the community resource and school resource programs.
Constantineau will be responsible for providing information to the press on arrests, ongoing investigations, personnel matters and other issues of interest to the public.
Girl, 12, wins recycling competition
New Berlin - Dailey Albino, New Berlin, 12, won the Best Waste Management and Recycling Facility Award at the Wisconsin Regional Future City Competition held at the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Jan. 12.
More than 50 teams competed for awards and cash prizes. Dailey was honored for her research in separation of organic materials and the separation of old tires into rubber, steel, liquid fuel and other materials.
The recognition came from the American Public Works Wisconsin Chapter. The national championship will be held in Virginia later this year.
Business input sought for Jammin'
Muskego - The Muskego Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting all business owners, regardless of whether they are chamber members, to attend a Jammin' on Janesville meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Muskego Public Library, W16663 Janesville Road.
Jammin' on Janesville events provide fun, entertainment and a showcase for local businesses. The meeting will be held to get creative input for the June 7, July 5 and Aug. 2 Jams.
Kids in Motion adds preschool class
New Berlin - Kids in Motion, the indoor play and party center, 14135 W. Greenfield Ave., New Berlin, now offers a preschool class from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Thursdays.
The class includes structured and playtime learning for toddlers 18 months to age 4 with caregivers in attendance. Class activities focus on a theme emphasizing early learning curriculum including name, number, letter and color recognition, development of fine motor skills, crafts, music, reading time as well as open play for peer social development.
The cost for a four-week session is $45, including admission and playtime at Kids in Motion before and after class.

Businesses invited to career, job fair
New Berlin - Local businesses are invited to participate in the second New Berlin Career and Job Fair to be held by Moving New Berlin Forward and the School District of New Berlin for businesses, students and the community on Feb. 20.
Local businesses are invited to participate to speak with students about career fields and even recruit employees for open positions.
The fair will be held in the New Berlin West High School field house with the job fair section for high school students from 8 to 11 a.m. and career fair for high school students from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the job fair for the community at large from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Businesses are invited to participate in some or all the sessions and a complimentary luncheon will be provided.
Moving New Berlin Forward is a cooperative effort to align resources with the needs of the community, businesses and students. The organization is supported by the School District of New Berlin, the city of New Berlin, the Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, the New Berlin Rotary Club, civic and faith-based organizations, and local businesses.

Two Muskego students take top essay honors
Muskego - Anna Aiuppa won the Voice of Democracy essay competition of the Muskego Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8171 and her essay on this year's theme, "Is Our Constitution Still Relevant?" will go on to the district competition.
Anna Li also was a winner in the competition. Both girls attend Muskego High School.
They each submitted an audio essay. The Voice of Democracy essay contest is open to students in grades nine through 12 in public or private schools or even home-schooled students. The top scholarship at the national level is $30,000.
Dale Kuss, chairman of the Patriots Pen and Voice of Democracy competition for the VFW, and Chris Stamborski, commander for Muskego VFW, Post 8171, presented certificates and monetary awards to the two Muskego students.
Muskego Legal Center moves, gets new name
Muskego - The Muskego Legal Center has changed its name to the Muskego Law Group and changed its location to W17095 Janesville Road.
Its new more than 2,000-square-foot suite on the upper level of the North Shore Bank building will provide the additional space the firm needs as it reaches out beyond Muskego to serve clients in Milwaukee and Racine counties as well as Waukesha County.
The firm does adoption and family law, bankruptcy, business and corporate law, elder law, estate planning, wills and trusts, immigration law cases, personal injury, probate, Society Security, special needs, traffic and worker's compensation.
People think summer already booking parks
Muskego - As soon as the new year started, the Waukesha County Park System started taking reservations for park facilities for those holding special events such as family reunions, company picnics or outdoor weddings.
Reservations should be made at the County Administration Building, 515 W. Moreland Boulevard, Room AC230, in Waukesha. Payment is due at time of booking.
The only county park locally is Muskego County Park, W20370 Janesville Road.
