Muskego - The Woodland Conference was to the liking of the Muskego boys basketball team last week.
The Warriors drilled two members of the conference in the New Berlin Invitational Tournament, routing Cudahy, 66-37, on Dec. 27 and downing New Berlin West by a 61-47 count on Dec. 28.
The sweep gave them three straight victories and a 4-8 overall record to finish out 2012. They resume Classic 8 Conference action at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Kettle Moraine, then visit Oconomowoc at 7:30 Jan. 8.
The game against New Berlin West was a bit strange, as the two teams struggled on offense for the first three quarters, then exploded in the fourth period.
Through three periods, the Warriors held a 30-17 advantage, but in the fourth, they racked up 31 points and West 30. Thus, they both scored more in the fourth than in the previous three combined.
Turner Kehoe totaled 16 points, Josh Breider 12, Jake Van Fleet eight and Steve Cotton six points. Muskego hit 27 of 33 from the free-throw line.
The Warriors dominated from the beginning against Cudahy in the earlier game, surging to leads of 11-1 after one quarter and 27-12 at the half.
Kehoe once again led with 17 points, while Trevor Bednarek snared eight points, Mike Vidmar seven and Van Fleet and Cotton each six. A total of 12 players scored for Muskego.
