Connor Price took home the championship at 182 pounds for the Muskego wrestling team at the Battle on the Bay meet on Saturday at Bay Port.

Price went 5-0 on the day and downed Bobby Geiger of Two Rivers 6-2 in the title match. He wound up with a bye, two pins and two decisions.

"He wrestled well and stayed in solid position," head coach Sean Fortmann said.

Austin Quartullo came in third at 132 pounds, finishing 4-1 on the day.

He won his first three matches in a technical fall, pin and decision before dropping a 4-2 overtime decision to Evan Garcia of Green Bay Preble/East in the semifinal.

Quartullo rebounded with a 14-1 major decision over Ryan Engel of East Troy in the third-place match.

"Austin dropped a match in the semifinals on a controversial call but came back to dominate in the third-place match," Fortmann said.

Other top-12 finishers for the Warriors were as follows: 10ths from Ryan Borton at 170 pounds and Grant Balconi at 195 pounds, 11ths by Cameron Rygiewicz at 138 and Jorin McGuire at heavyweight and 12th from Kai Pham at 220.

Muskego tallied 239 points for 14th place in the 23-team meet, which was won by Bay Port at 559 points.

The Warriors topped Waukesha West 54-20 in a Classic 8 Conference dual on Dec. 12. Winning were Vinny Nazario at 126 (forfeit), Quartullo at 132 (forfeit), Rygiewicz at 138 (pin in 3 minutes, 43 seconds), Borton at 170 (pin in 1:42), Price at 182 (pin in 3:45), Balconi at 195 (pin in 3:57), McGuire at heavyweight (forfeit), Tommy Wintheiser at 106 (forfeit) and Mason Alioto at 120 (pin in 1:29).

"The team is improving, which is good to see, but we have a long ways to go," Fortmann said. "The goal is to see steady improvement so that we are wrestling our best at the end of the season."

The Warriors visit Kettle Moraine for another conference dual at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 19, then compete in the prestigious E.H. Stech Invitational at West Allis Central on Dec. 20 and 21.
