Jon Roberts and Joe Szczupakiewicz both claimed a pair of victories for the Muskego boys swimming team in the Metro Officials Invitational on Friday at Homestead High School.

Roberts won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.18 seconds and the 100 freestyle with 48.62 seconds, while Szczupakiewicz captured the 1,000 freestyle at 9 minutes, 54.87 seconds and the 500 freestyle with 4:45.38.

They helped the Warriors take fourth place with 306 points in the 17-team event, which was won by Libertyville (Ill.) with 382 points. Lake Forest (Ill.) was second with 361 and Arrowhead third at 343 points.

"We held our own and I was pleased with the results," head coach Larry Milton said. "Arrowhead again got the best of us, but we still have room for improvement."

Thomas Stigler placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.36) and third in the 200 breaststroke (2:18.37).

"Stigler showed signs that he is going to be a contender as the season starts to heat up," the coach said.

Taking fourth were Clayton Cesarz in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.35), Drew Borland in the 200 butterfly (2:05.15) and 500 freestyle (5:02.06), the 200 medley relay of Matt Gilson, Stigler, Szczupakiewicz and Roberts (1:42.39) and the 200 freestyle group of Cesarz, Stigler, Szczupakiewicz and Roberts (1:31.37).

Ivan Couch was fifth in the 400 individual medley (4:44.96) and sixth in the 200 IM (2:15.05). Gilson claimed sixth in the 100 backstroke (59.56).

Cesarz was seventh in the 100 freestyle (52.39) and Gilson eighth in the 200 backstroke (2:08.04).

Milton also praised Joe Mioduszewski, Jack Sterner, Ryan Fisher and Chris Fields for providing depth.

Muskego next competes in the Marquette Invitational at Schroeder Aquatic Center on Saturday.
