West girls volleyball
The Vikings improved to 3-0 in the Woodland Conference and 10-3 overall with a home win over Pewaukee on Sept. 15.
West's Cayla Golsteyn had 20 assists, Casey Luehrs nailed six aces and Kellie Shaw made 14 digs as the Vikings won, 25-15, 25-23, 25-16. Martha Radtke and Rachael Liska added three blocks each and Moira Collins and Rebecca Gasper had nine kills apiece.
Muskego swimming
Visiting Kenosha Tremper was no match for the Warriors, who thumped their guests, 140-46, Sept. 15, to improve to 2-0 in Southeast Conference duals.
The Warriors won 11 of 12 events. Sami Pochowski and Emma Szczupakiewicz picked up four each. Pochowski won the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 13.97 seconds and the 100 free in 55.54. Szczupakiewicz took first in the 100 butterfly (1:03.06) and the 100 backstroke (1:01.74). The pair joined Megan Liebl and Jessica Wolf for a win in the 200 free relay (1:42.70) and with Wolf and Kristen Kaiser in the 400 free relay.
Brittany Walsh won both the 200 free (2:00.42) and the 500 free (5:06.82).
Eisenhower cross country
Only five teams at the 33-team Angel Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside were able to place three runners in the top 40 Saturday.
The Eisenhower girls were one of them.
With sophomore Therese Thompson leading the way in 11th place in 15:26.5, the Lions finished seventh. Only two underclassmen finished better than Thompson in the 203-runner race.
Eisenhower's Sammy Woller was 14th in 15:43.5, the fifth-best time among seniors, and Catherine Michaletz ran 38th in 16:25.9, the fifth-best freshmen time.
New Berlin Eisenhower soccer
Four different Lions scored as Eisenhower ran its Woodland Conference winning streak to three matches with a pair of victories.
Evan Krause erased visiting Pewaukee's lead with a goal in the 54th minute and Justin Wieland snapped the tie eight minutes later to give the Lions a 2-1 win Sept. 16.
Two days earlier, Wieland, Erick Hesselbach and Alex Diedrich scored one goal each and the defense dominated in a 3-0 win at Brown Deer.
The Lions also picked up a 1-0 home nonconference win over Waukesha West on Saturday. Jacob Bogart snapped a scoreless tie in the 70th minute as Eisenhower improved to 9-4-1 overall as of Monday.
Muskego girls volleyball
Behind the dominant play of Kate LaTour and Rachel Neuberger, the Warriors breezed through a pair of Southeast Conference opponents.
In a 25-20, 25-16, 25-14 home win over Burlington on Sept. 17, LaTour had 22 assists and was one of three Warriors with three aces. Neuberger had a team-high six blocks, Alli Glisch had 13 kills and Sarah Mlachnik made 16 digs.
Two days earlier, Neuberger had eight kills and five blocks in a home win over Kenosha Tremper, 25-12, 25-12, 25-14.
LaTour had 24 assists and Hannah Blanchard drilled four aces.
New Berlin boys volleyball
A pair of Woodland Conference foes were no match for the New Berlin United.
In a 25-7, 25-8, 25-5 road victory over South Milwaukee on Sept. 16, Steve Zeske had eight aces and Chris Pokrzywa had 13 assists.
Pokrzywa had 22 assists two days earlier in a 25-5, 25-12, 25-17 home win over Greenfield. Jeremy Dejano added nine kills for the winners.
Muskego boys volleyball
Muskego setter Tony Kamperschroer had a match-high 36 assists, one better than Kenosha Tremper's Adam Landgraf, as the Warriors beat the visiting Trojans, 25-23, 25-17, 25-13, on Sept. 17.
Kamperschroer added a match-high four aces as Muskego improved to 2-0 in the Southeast Conference.
Sam Benson and Dan Reiss tied with eight kills each for the Warriors. Reiss also added a team-high five digs and Benson a team-high four blocks.
The Warriors also went 5-0 to win the six-team Waukesha North Invite on Saturday.
Muskego tennis
Michelle Roubik's switch from third doubles to third singles proved to be the difference in Muskego's 4-3 win at Oak Creek on Sept. 17.
Roubik posted a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Dominika Steinova to help the Warriors sweep the singles matches and lock up the victory. Amy Upthagrove (first singles), Kristen Furry (second) and Ana Spone (fourth) also won their singles matches for Muskego.
The Warriors lost all three doubles matches two days earlier at Racine Horlick, but the singles players came through and gave Muskego a 4-3 victory.
Upthagrove, Molly Brunn, Furry and Spone won in straight sets for the Warriors.
Muskego cross country
With three runners in the top 20, the Warriors placed fourth at the tough eight-team Marquette Invitational on Friday.
Niki Drolshagen ran fourth for the Warriors in 15:16.5. Amy Klaus placed 18th (16:18.18) and Taylor Drolshagen, 20th (16:21.20), also ran well.
New Berlin West swimming
The Vikings won half of the 12 events but lost a Woodland Conference dual against the visiting Pewaukee Pirates, 94-82, on Sept. 16.
West's Katie Hausmann won the 50-yard freestyle in 36.52 seconds and diving with 179 points and was part of the victorious 400 free relay, along with Heather Leair, Chloe Banholzer and Corey Wannamaker, which won in 3:57.07.
Wannamaker won the 100 free (55.06), Sydney Hider topped the 500 free field (6:07.33) and Lindsey Rodenkirk claimed the 100 backstroke (1:06.88). Those three teamed with Leah Kritter for second in the 200 free relay (1:49.36).
Also second were the 200 medley relay of Hider, Michelle Gall, Leair and Amber Kazinski (2:16.03), Wannamaker in the 200 free (2:04.18), Banholzer in the 200 individual medley (2:32.71) and Lauren Kritter in the 100 breaststroke (1:28.01).
New Berlin West tennis
The Vikings dipped back below .500 in league play (3-4) with a split of league duals.
In a 6-1 home win over Brown Deer on Sept. 15, the Vikings picked up six straight-set victories. Victorious Vikings were Markelle Grabo, Eilisha Manandhar, Emily Young and Lora Daskalska in singles matches and the second and third doubles teams of Nicole Tierney and Kelsey King and Jesse Tofte and Steph Schumacher.
The Vikings also lost, 5-2, to visiting Shorewood on Sept. 17.
