Muskego cross country

Juniors Niki and Taylor Drolshagen finished side-by-side at the WIAA State Cross Country Meet in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday, helping the Warriors to 15th in their second straight state appearance.

Niki Drolshagen ran 44th in 15 minutes, 42.9 seconds and Taylor Drolshagen was 45th in 15.43.2.

Freshman Amy Klaus was 61st in 16:09.3 for the Warriors, who were seventh at state a year ago.

The state run capped a solid season during which the Warriors placed second at the Southeast conference meet - team's fourth finish of second or better in the last five years - had three girls earn first- or second-team all-conference honors and won their second straight sectional.

For the Muskego boys, junior Mike O'Connor ran 132nd at the state meet in 17:37.5.

The rest of the Southeast Conference stood no chance against the Warriors at the league meet at Racine Case on Saturday.

Muskego won nine events and tallied a whopping 603 points, well ahead of runner-up Kenosha Bradford's 351.

Brittany Walsh and Sami Pochowski won two individual races each. Walsh took first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.2 and in the 500 free in 5:06.12. Pochowski was victorious in the 100 free in 54.15 and 100 breaststroke in 1:10.97.

Megan Liebl claimed the 50 free in 25.61 and Emma Szczupakiewicz did the same in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.23.

The Warriors also swept all three relays: Szczupakiewicz, Pochowski, Kati Budnik and Liebl in the 200 medley (1:54.95); Jessica Wolf, Liebl, Claire Borland and Kristin Kaiser in the 200 free (1:43.28); and Szczupakiewicz, Kaiser, Wolf and Pochowski in the 400 free (3:43.33).

The Warriors compete in a WIAA Division 1 sectional at 2 p.m. Saturday at Waukesha South.

New Berlin West swimming

Six top-three finishes helped the Vikings to third place in the Woodland Conference Meet at Shorewood on Saturday.

Corey Wannamaker led the way with victories in the 50 freestyle (24.98) and the 200 free relay with Katie Hausmann, Lindsey Rodenkirk and Leah Kritter (1:43.44). Wannamaker was also second in the 100 free (54.42) and teamed with Hausmann, Rodenkirk and Kritter for second in the 400 free relay (3:51.61).

Hausmann claimed second in diving with 326.10 points and was fourth in the 50 free (25.50). Rodenkirk was third in the 100 back (1:03.63) and fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:26.11).

The Vikings will compete in a WIAA Division 2 sectional Friday (diving) and Saturday (swimming). Diving is at Kenosha Bradford at 5:30 p.m. Friday; swimming is at Cudahy at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Eisenhower cross country

Sammy Woller placed 46th of 188 runners at the state meet in 15:44.1 Saturday.

It was Woller's fourth-straight state trip - the previous three were in Division 2 - and she finished her career as the fastest female runner in school history and its most successful, according to coach Bob Goodmann.

"It was a very competitive, physical race," Goodman said. "She beat a lot of kids that had beaten her during the season. I am very proud of the job Sammy has done this past year as a leader, positive example and competitor, going back to track (last spring)."

Muskego boys volleyball

Muskego won its regional final match, 25-18, 25-12, 22-25, 25-12, over visiting Kenosha Tremper on Friday.

Dan Reiss had 13 kills for the victorious Warriors. Tony Kamperschroer had a match-high 32 assists and Taylor Nordstrom and Sam Benson blocked six shots each as Muskego improved to 18-8 and advanced to a sectional semifinal match at New Berlin West against the New Berlin United on Tuesday, after deadline.

New Berlin Eisenhower swimming

Sophomore Allie Bellford enjoyed success at the Woodland Conference Meet at Shorewood on Saturday.

Bellford was second in the 50 free in 25.11, behind only Corey Wannameker of New Berlin West (24.98), and third in the 100 free in 55.70 behind Shorewood's Elli Sellinger (54.09) and Wannamaker (54.42).

Sophomore diver Leah Fraleigh took third with 316.20 points for the Lions, who were eighth of 12 teams with 160 points.

The Lions will compete in a WIAA Division 2 sectional Friday (diving) and Saturday (swimming). Diving is at Kenosha Bradford at 5:30 p.m. Friday; swimming is at Cudahy at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
