Ike's Petre to play football at Washington University

New Berlin Eisenhower tight end/defensive back Dylan Petre has committed to play Division III football at Washington University in St. Louis last week.

Petre, who also received walk-on interest from Northwestern University and University of Miami, had a Division I offer from Drake University in Des Moines.

Petre earned several honors. He was a first team All-Woodland Conference two-way selection; a first-team NOW Newspapers All-Suburban Team (tight end); Honorable Mention NOW Newspapers All-Suburban Team (defensive back); Waukesha Freeman All-Waukesha County (tight end) and Honorable Mention Milwaukee Journal Sentinel All-Area Team (tight end) and a conference All-Academic selection.

He set the Eisenhower school record for receiving yards in a season (811).

Honors piling up for Edgewood's Wisniewski

Madison Edgewood College senior and New Berlin West graduate Ben Wisniewski became the Northern Athletics Conference's all-time leading scorer with 16 points Saturday night. He now has 1,561 points in his career, passing MSOE's Austin Meier who scored 1,560 points.

The Edgewood College men's basketball team was also one of only six NCAA Division III teams nationwide to place two student-athletes on a Capital One Academic All-District first team.

Graduate student Kent Faurote and senior Ben Wisniewski were both named to the five-member District 6 Academic All-American team, which makes them eligible for Academic All-American consideration.

Wisniewski recently became Edgewood College's all-time leader in three-point field goals made with 210 triples through Jan. 31. He is one of six Eagles in history to score 1,500 career points and is currently fourth on the all-time scoring list at Edgewood College 1,545 points.

Wisniewski is a three-time All-Northern Athletics Conference second team player. Wisniewski is averaging 14.7 points per game and shoots 41.7 percent from the 3-point line. In December, Wisniewski set a new single game career-high with 34 points in an 84-71 victory over Benedictine University at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. Wisniewski is a finance major who boasts a 3.67 grade point average.

Faurote and Wisniewski are the second and third men's basketball players to be named Academic All-District in Edgewood College history.

Faurote and Wisniewski are both eligible to be named to the Capital One Academic All-American men's basketball team, which will be announced on Feb. 21. The Capital One Academic All-District and All-American programs are conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
