West Booster Club sets Track & Field Day May 19

The New Berlin West High School Track Booster Club will conduct the 14th annual New Berlin Track and Field Day for elementary students in grades four through six.

The track meet will take place May 19 (rain or shine) at New Berlin West High School. Check-in and warm-ups start at 8 a.m. and the events will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude around 12:30 p.m.

More than 200 students are expected to participate in the following events: 50-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 4 x 100 meter relay, softball throw and standing long jump.

The purpose is to encourage physical fitness and emphasize sportsmanship. The meet will also give these students an opportunity to display their natural track and field abilities.

Ribbons will be awarded to first through sixth place, and a traveling school trophy will be presented. The participating schools are Elmwood, Glen Park, Holy Apostles, Orchard Lane, Poplar Creek, Ronald Reagan and Star of Bethlehem.

Muskego's Robinson

will compete in track at UWM

Sam Robinson of Muskego signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee next fall and compete with the men's track team.

Robinson received a scholarship from UWM and will study at the Peck School of the Arts, pursuing a bachelor's degree in acting.

UWM won the Horizon League track and field championship last season.

Robinson qualified for the WIAA Division 1 state meet last season in the shot put and hopes to also make it in the discus this season.

Teams needed for basketball boys summer league

Brookfield East will host a 10-game summer basketball league on Wednesday evenings for fifth-and sixth-grade boys teams.

The league dates are June 13, 20, 27, July 11 and 18. League is limited to the first eight teams registered per grade level.

Free Tight End Camp set for June 20-21

Jim Place's annual free Milwaukee Tight End Camp will be held June 20 to 21 at Bradley Tech, 700 S. 4th St.

The camp will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. each day, and campers will receive a free T-shirt and snacks. Campers should wear athletic shorts, shirts and football turf shoes.

Place is a former tight end at Ball State University and is currently a tight ends coach. The camp focuses position-specific instructions for playing tight end.
