Gruettner, Dunlap placed on All-American team

Muskego - Jordan Gruettner and Roland Dunlap, Muskego's two-time WIAA Division 1 state champions in wrestling, have been named to the Wrestling USA Magazine's high school All-American team.

Gruettner and Dunlap were selected from wrestlers around the country for this honor.

Gruettner finished his Muskego career at 172-12 with 118 pins and finished second, first and first in three trips to state. He was named all-state three times and will play football next fall at Northern Illinois University.

Dunlap went 162-9 with 62 pins. He was fifth, third and first twice at state and was all-state four years. He will wrestle at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, next season.

Muskego's Pochowski named swimmer of year

Muskego - Sami Pochowski of Muskego was named the swimmer of the year for Division 1 of the WIAA.

Pochowski is a senior at Muskego High School and won both the 100 breast stroke and 200 freestyle at the state meet last fall. She captured the breast stroke crown for the second straight season.

She is headed to Omaha, Neb., for the 2012 Olympic swimming trials in June.

West Booster Club sets Track & Field Day Saturday

New Berlin - The New Berlin West High School Track Booster Club conducts its 14th annual New Berlin Track and Field Day for elementary students in grades four through six.

The track meet takes place Saturday (rain or shine) at New Berlin West High School, 18695 W. Cleveland Ave.

Check-in and warm-ups start at 8 a.m. and the events begin at 9 a.m. and conclude around 12:30 p.m.

More than 200 students are expected to participate.

The events are the 50-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 4 x 100 meter relay, softball throw and standing long jump.

The purpose is to encourage physical fitness and emphasize sportsmanship.

The meet also gives the students an opportunity to display their natural track and field abilities.

Ribbons are awarded to first through sixth place, and a traveling school trophy will be presented.

The participating schools are Elmwood, Glen Park, Holy Apostles, Orchard Lane, Poplar Creek, Ronald Reagan and Star of Bethlehem.

Henke to play baseball at Concordia-St. Paul

New Berlin - Catcher Dave Henke of New Berlin will play baseball for Concordia University - St. Paul, Minn., baseball coach Mark "Lunch" McKenzie announced.

Henke of Wisconsin Lutheran is one of eight players who have signed to play for the Golden Bears in the 2013 season, joining the two early signees from the fall signing period.

Former Milwaukee Brewers set Gantner-August Baseball camp

Menomonee Falls - The 11th annual Menomonee Falls Baseball Camp is set for July 16-19 at the Menomonee Falls Little League Complex.

The camp is run by former Milwaukee Brewers, Don August and Jim Gantner, and it is from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for the four days.

Ages 8-12 are on the lower fields and ages 13 and older are on the upper fields.

Teams needed for basketball boys summer league

Brookfield - Brookfield East hosts a 10-game summer basketball league on Wednesday evenings for fifth-and sixth-grade boys teams.

The league dates are June 13, 20, 27, July 11 and 18. The league is limited to the first eight teams registered per grade level.

Free tight end camp set for June 20-21

Milwaukee - Jim Place's annual free Milwaukee Tight End Camp is from June 20 to 21 at Bradley Tech, 700 S. 4th St., Milwaukee

The camp runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. each day, and campers receive a free T-shirt and snacks. Campers should wear athletic shorts, shirts and football turf shoes.

Place is a former tight end at Ball State University and is currently a tight ends coach. The camp focuses position-specific instructions for playing tight end.
