Muskego - With an unbeaten week, Muskego established itself as a team to watch in boys volleyball this season.
The Warriors downed Mukwonago, 25-23, 25-17, 25-9, in a Classic 8 Conference dual on Sept. 13, then swept New Berlin United, Franklin and Kenosha Tremper in a quadrangular on Friday night.
Against Mukwonago, senior outside hitter Tony Mack collected 14 kills and posted a .448 percentage, while senior outside hitter Sammy Pedersen added nine kills (.467) and senior middle blocker AJ Pratt eight kills (.636).
Mack also contributed four aces and seven digs, Pedersen eight digs, senior middle blocker Sean Tobin five blocks, sophomore setter Matt Pedersen 11 assists and junior libero Ryan Alvine 22 assists.
"We really didn't click on all cylinders in the first two games," head coach Joe Arbinger said. "Parts of the games were played really well, but other parts would be off. In the third game, we came out and everything was clicking. All the players contributed. It was a great game and the kind of game that I expect the boys to play every time they step out on the court."
In the Friday quad, the Warriors dropped only one set, that to Tremper.
"The play got better as the night went on," Arbinger said. "The middles did a great job closing the block with the outsides, and the passers made it possible to run our offense efficiently. The guys worked hard, and we will see more of these teams again in the (WIAA) regional, so it gives us some confidence."
