United Way Connects the Community to Volunteer Opportunities

(April 2, 2014)—United Way in Waukesha County would like to invite volunteers to the following volunteer opportunities:

Join the Relay for Life Committee! – Hartland
The Relay for Life of Lake Country is looking to add members to our planning committee. Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature fundraising event and we are looking for Lake Country residents to help put on another great event in 2014. The event will be held in June and our planning committee meets the second Tuesday of each month from 6-7pm.

Recycled Cans Transport - Brookfield
Once a month opportunity for someone who loves animals but has limited time to help! Twice a month, a volunteer is needed to pick up our recycled cans and take them to the recycling center in Waukesha for credit. The money earned helps the animals in our care!

Screener/Discharge Assistant – Menomonee Falls
The screener screens new patients for financial eligibility, assists with referrals to appropriate community agencies, and assists with sub-specialty follow-up. Volunteers are needed during clinic hours (5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There is no set schedule for volunteering and training is provided for all roles.

Best Buddies Friendship Walk - Delafield
Best Buddies Wisconsin is seeking committed volunteers for the 2014 Friendship Walk to be hosted on May 17. Everyone over 16 years of age is welcome to volunteer; please invite a friend or two to join you! Proceeds from the Best Buddies Wisconsin Friendship Walk will be used to support our programs. Together we can create opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development ...for students both with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities!

Entertainer - Waukesha
Enjoy entertaining? The seniors at our adult day center would enjoy you sharing your talents with entertainment like music, magic acts, travelogues, demonstrations or any other types of entertainment suitable for seniors. This opportunity is available Monday – Friday and the times are 10:30am or 2:30pm, choose which time works best for you and/or your group. This is a great opportunity for youth groups, families, community groups or business groups.

Data Entry Volunteer – Hartland
Gain valuable office experience while helping local nonprofit! A volunteer is needed to compile, sort and verify the accuracy of data before it is entered. Conduct basic searches within a database and create accounts for new clients and donors. Volunteer must have attention to detail and ability to read computer screen for long period of time!
