Live Reindeer, New Date & Bigger & Better Parade for Country Christmas
On Dasher, on Dancer, on Prancer! For the first time this year, you can find Santa’s reindeer at Muskego’s Country Christmas on November 21st. Children and adults will be able to get their photo with the reindeer as well.
Reindeer Games, in the town of Erin, Wisconsin raise and care for the reindeer. Comet and Cupid arrived on May 26, 2002, both at two weeks old. Reindeer are very tame, and most are bottle fed as babies. At the farm they are haltered and trained starting at 2 weeks old.
In effort to avoid conflicting with many other activities in early December, the event has been moved to November 21st, the Saturday before Thanksgiving. “We also want to be mindful of weather for parade goers”, says the event chairman, Krisann Durnford, and adds “the parade will be bigger and better this year.” Parade starts at 2:00 with the route on Pioneer Drive from Janesville Road to City Hall. Following the parade are activities at the Muskego Settlement Centre until 6:00 pm.
Activities include official city tree lighting, visits and photos with Santa and reindeer, horse and carriage, hay wagon and children’s train rides. Kids can also take in the delightful candy shoppe and storytelling in the prairie school. And for the adults, the Pioneer Pub features Christmas Brew and Holiday Wine in the quaint setting of the log house. All the buildings are decorated with lights compliments of area businesses, churches and clubs.
In the spirit of the giving season, there will be barrels along the parade route. Parade patrons are encouraged to donate non-perishable food intems. Muskego Tire & Auto will transport the full barrels to the pantry. For more information visit www.muskego.org or call (414) 422-1155.
