Muksego Police DARE Program Receives Donation
On Thursday, February 25, 2010, the Muskego Police Department D.A.R.E program proudly accepted a donation of $500 from the Cudahy Sucker Fishing Club.
The Cudahy Sucker Fishing Club was formed over 40 years ago by a group of dedicated fishermen looking to have a great time fishing while at the same time giving something back to the community. Over the years, their annual ice-fishing jamboree on Big Muskego Lake has allowed them to donate to many worthy causes, including The Ronald McDonald House, Project Concern, the Cudahy Baseball Booster Club, and the Pishtaka Wildlife Society youth hunter safety program. Cudahy Sucker Fishing Club Treasurer Mike Mulqueen said that their fishing club takes pride in their most recent donation to the youth of Muskego.
Since 1991, Muskego Police officers have gone into grade schools throughout Muskego, public and private, and taught fifth-grade children how to make smart personal decisions through the D.A.R.E. program. The ten-week curriculum includes applying the D.A.R.E. Decision-Making Model to authentic situations related to tobacco, alcohol and drug use. It also helps children define the qualities of positive friendships, and respond confidently and responsibly in the face of peer pressure.
The Muskego Police Department is very excited and grateful to the Cudahy Suckers Fishing Club for their generous investment in Muskego’s future. The money will go towards classroom materials and other D.A.R.E. related costs associated with putting on the program.
